The Most American Rucksack in the Most American Place On Earth
It was an honor to be back in Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day - to me, this is the most American place on planet Earth. It was an honor to do the 50 Miler with 141 other people, to span the American sector from Utah to Omaha Beach which took my team 15 hours 44 minutes. Everything hurt and it was beautiful.
When traveling abroad -- you do have to pass through Paris to get to Normandy :) -- I usually opt for more subdued colors to not stand out. But … in Normandy I went with the Star Shrapnel (20L) - an added bonus was that the stars themselves are highly reflective, and when rucking back roads overnight, that’s a good thing. More American, more visible is a win-win. We have a very small collection with very limited quantities. Based on feedback in Normandy, I wish we’d built a lot more.
No matter the rucksack, I hope to see you out there, I’ll give you half the trail if you give me the other half.
